LATAM leaves its sustainable footprint in Torres del Paine by supporting the reconstruction of its most iconic trail
LATAM Airlines Group has teamed up with the ‘Tu Mejor Huella para el Paine’ (Your best footprint for Paine) campaign to reconstruct the ‘Base de las Torres’ walking trail which leads up to the iconic Torres del Paine. The trail is the busiest in Torres del Paine National Park and is severely eroded, affecting the conservation of flora and fauna in one of Chile’s most emblematic destinations.
As the only airline to operate to Puerto Natales, the closest gateway to Torres del Paine National Park, LATAM has committed to the ‘Tu Mejor Huella para el Paine’ campaign as part of its Cuido Mi Destino social responsibility program.
“This initiative is excellent news, representing a concrete contribution to the conservation of the park and its flora and fauna as well as its local community. The goals of the project are ambitious and its success depends not only on LATAM, local authorities and social organisations, but also on the people of Chile, as we need to raise more than $800 million Chilean pesos – approximately $1.2 million US dollars – to reconstruct the path,” said Cristina Pérez-Iñigo, Corporate Affairs Manager Chile, LATAM Airlines Group.
